The Family Center for Teens,
Tweens and Young Adults

It is normal for familial changes and transitions to leave you, your siblings and/or other family members feeling uncertain about what the future holds, whom you can rely on, or, what you can expect life will be like moving forward.

Tweens, teens and young adults often experience these changes in a unique way in comparison to their younger or older counterparts. This generation is modeling how to navigate relationships with others and has more concrete expectations with regards to the purpose and composition of their ‘family.’ Therefore, alterations to their family concept due to separation, divorce or other familial disruption can seem catastrophic. These types of changes are not easy, but support and guidance can help make the process and its short- and long-term consequences less painful.

How we can help

The professional therapists at Jewish Family Services (JFS) are compassionate and dedicated to helping teens, tweens, and young adults cope with any familial change that is likely to produce anxiety, depression or other variation in emotion and behavior. They aim to provide consistency when faced with seemingly unstable circumstances and support young people by attending to physical and emotional needs with a reassuring and positive attitude.

Our goal is to help support families through these difficult periods of dramatic change and assist them in minimizing the negative impact that changing familial circumstances has the potential to cause.

We offer a variety of programs designed to help families through these transitions.
