A Professional Approach to Serving the LGBT Population at End of Life

Milwaukee… Jewish Family Services, Inc. (JFS) and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care have partnered to offer “A Professional Approach to Serving the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Population at End of Life” on Tuesday, 01 May 2012 at JFS, 1300 N. Jackson Street in Milwaukee. Registration and continental breakfast begins at 9:00-9:30 a.m., and the program starts 9:30-11:00 a.m. This event is free of charge and open to professionals, nurses, social workers, administrators, and caregivers.

Participants will learn how to better support and comfort LGBT clients at end of life.  A panel of professionals will address; how to protect clients resources and discuss legal issues, as well as discuss strategies on how to approach clients with sensitivity. The panel of professionals will consist of: Chaplain Russell Hurst, Vitas Innovative Hospice Care; Alicia Rose, MSW, Jewish Family Services; and Elizabeth Ruthmansdorfer, Attorney at Law, Moertl, Wilkins & Campbell, S.C.
